This time we look at  some more details of MyArcadeBlog and WPArcade, which offers a number of nice Wordpress powered Arcade Game themes. There are currently seven Arcade game site designs available, and this is what it mainly differentiates WPArcade from competitors like MyArcadeBlog.

Tip:

Monetizing your new Arcade site with downloaded Mochi games isn’t worth the occupied disk space as earnings are totally ridiculous. Rather, we recommend do not download the Mochi games. For the user experience it doesn’t matter as games appear local to your site.

This way the required disk space is minimal and you don’t pay a cent for gaming bandwidth. Let Mochi pay that. You can still earn well using Adsense and affiliate programs for example.

You may have heard of or even played online flash games commonly referred to as Arcade games. Arcade games sites can be created using a variety of off-the-shelf game scripts, yet they can also be installed onto the Wordpress CMS, which is free and famous for its large use base due to numerous plugins which achieve very nice things, including running an automated Arcade sites for example. As the top WP Arcade scripts are made to be loved by search engines you will likely get organic traffic assuming you have done some keyword SEO and own a relevant domain name.

We have tried this approach with www.best-arcades.info, which after a while, started producing earnings without having ever been promoted. Apart from earnings from Adsense or your other ad network can you additionally make some cents if you show Mochi ads and host them on your server. • 1. For domain registration we strongly recommended Godaddy where a .info domain costs only 1$ and .com domains are also cheap.
• 2. You will soon have more than one Arcade site as they are so fun! So when choosing a hosting provider do not opt for a single-domain account, rather choose a plan like Hostgator Baby, with unlimited unlimited domains, for less than 10$ a month!
• 3. Apply for the Google advertising network if you not already have an Adsense account. Also, make sure to open a Mochi Games publisher account to download their free games.

In the next parts of this Arcade on Wordpress series we will go into the scripts’ details and discuss their strengths of  MyAracade Blog, which, in the 20$ Pro edition, has the most advanced features. WPAracde on the other hand has a great variety of ready to go Arcade templates which are also worth their price, yet the underlying script resembles the free edition of MyArcadeBlog, which is not fully automatic. Lastly, as soon as Triqui is updated to work with recent Wordpress editions we will have a look at this famous  Gallery like standard theme.

You will be able to start your own directory with a Wordpress theme! Yes, I also got surprised at the first time, but it works very well to be honest.

DirectoryPress, is a premium theme that allows you to run a directory under Wordpress, and you can choose between a general web directory or a link bid directory. With a link bid directory, the advertisers will be able to choose how much are they willing to pay per click.

DirectoryPress allows you to accept paid submissions, and this system makes it very easy. You will be able to accept payments through: Paypal, 2checkout and many more. And believe me, you CAN make money with directories.

This theme comes with many ready made templates you can use. This is a good thing, as these templates looks very well, but I have to mention one bad thing here, that the XTHML code is not as clean as it could.

DirectoryPress features

Some of the most important features I saw in this “script”:

• it is very SEO friendly,
• its dashboard is very complete, you have a lot of features, you will have a solely module just for your directory full of options to customize it,
• it works on all most known browsers,
• paid submissions are possible and well managed,
• it is very compatible with other plugins, such as wp-pagenavi or the rating plugins; this is mainly because DirectoryPress works as a theme (it will be “installed” in your themes folder).

Yes, now you can have an advanced social network running on your server with BuddyPress (for Wordpress MU), which it is not a simple plugin, it is a “suite of Wordpress plugins and themes, each adding a distinct new feature”, as it says in their site.

Facebook features in Wordpress

BuddyPress has some really cool features that all social networks such as Facebook has.

Some of these features are:

• Private Messages: this is the basic feature for a social network, private messaging allows users to interact between them rather than with the site (like the comments on a common Wordpress installation).
• Friendship: yes, of course your members will be able have other members as friends. Just like Facebook: they can search for people in your network (through different profile filters) and request friendship, which could be accepted or not by the other person.
• “The Wire”: this is a feature such as the comments on a normal blog, but you can comment other people´s profile, so imagine this as the “wall” feature in Facebook.
• Activity streams: this is one of those things that make this script really cool. Each profile is going to have each own streaming of the different activities they make in your site (such as commenting, adding a friend, etc).
